The cPDH Database Submission Period is almost upon us! Or CPDHDSP for short (we gotta get better with acronyms). Firstly, there are no more submission periods, instead we now support rolling submissions all year round! You can check out the full rules/submit here with our new submisison form! Otherwise, you can expect the rest of this article to still be pretty on point! The Kobolds you're running aren't gonna help you out of that one.ĬEDH has become a narrow joke that seems to destroy any hint of creativity people try.BREAKING NEWS (): The Submission Method for the cPDH Database has changed! While we’ll maintain this article for posterity, we want to include the new way of doing things in this blurb. *Cough* Chalice of the Void, Rule of Law effects, trinisphere, Narset, stony silence, collector ouphe *Cough*. Birgi gets absolutely hosed by SO many single stax pieces it's not even funny Godo (I get to run much more interaction, despite being mono-r). I have a Neheb, Dreadhorde Champion deck that has absolutely overpowered decked out lists like Najeela, Selvala Brostorm, Korvold, Curious Control, Urza and funnily enough. Like why is Birgi and Magda on the list when there are just as potent threats that aren't Godo? For a long time nobody would even consider anything that wasn't Godo. Or also if a pet deck does well, all of a sudden it's on the list even though it's outclassed by better options in the same colours. What does Arcum, High Tide Jace, Chain Veil Teferi or Azami have that Urza doesn't do better? Rashmi Control I don't think has been a thing for a couple of years since Curious Control does what it wants to to but better and with more colours. The rules specifically state that decks can't be added if they're outclassed in what they do, yet there are a million mono-blue lists. That's assuming you didn't kill yourself or whiff on the Ad Naus, which feels like every second cEDH youtube video at this point. NO, I know MANY players who will target people out of the game just for the simple fact they know they're playing Ad Naus to the point I stopped running it. "But if you're in black and not running Ad Naus you're doing it wrong". I think there is absolutely competitive viability to decks/cards that lay low and let your opponents fight it out just to deploy a game winning bomb, bonus points if you can hold up mana and interact. Just look at how often a Jeska/Ishai deck kills with Ishai because it can't be answered effectively. The counters and removal in a lot of 3-5c decks are too narrow now and get much worse against certain threats. That 5cmc bomb you pulled you wanna run (I.E a Scarab God)? Run it. People need to get their heads out of their elitist ass and play what they want to play. The amount of times I've looked at a Chain of Vapor and groaned because it was absolutely no use in the situation and I lost is way too damn high. Usually the argument feels like anything more than a mana value of 1 or 2 is "ToO SlOw" or not the "OpTiMaL ChOiCe" or if it's any good it's "WiN MoRe". It's not that it's overlooked, it's that the cEDH audience won't accept anything that isn't the de facto best of what's to offer, and honestly it drives me nuts because usually what is meant by that is "it's the lowest effective mana value of this type of spell that's playable" which I think is wrong. It feels like every other post on this sub is trying to offer something "overlooked" in cEDH. Edit/TL DR: I'm complaining about some (Not all) cEDH players I observe citing the database as the "be all, end all" of what's viable to put down good ideas from other players, despite a clear lack of consistency that I point to in the post and my frustration poured over in this post.
